Feb. 14th, is Update Tuesday! Wednesday Feb. 15th XP Users please run "Windows Updates" from Internet Explorer.
XP Users - you should download and install all "Update", "Critical", "Security", or "Fixes an Issue" updates. Do Not install Internet Explorer 8 or Internet Explorer 9 or Windows Live if you use Windows XP!!! Microsoft is still trying to sneak these in. They may be anywhere in the list of Updates.
Vista and Windows 7 Users - Do Not install Internet Explorer 9 or Windows Live! I have had many PCs "automatically" install IE9 as an "update". I have had to re-install Windows to fix them! Install only Important updates. Click on the link for Important updates to see the list.
- XP Users open Internet Explorer
- Look for the Tools Icon on the far right and click on it
- Choose "Windows Update"
- Click on the CUSTOM button
- Wait for it to finish thinking
- Look carefully for Internet Explorer 8 or Windows Live and UNCHECK them.
- You do not need any Optional Software or Hardware updates
- Install all "Update", "Critical", "Security", or "Fixes an Issue" updates
- Reboot your PC after all have been downloaded and installed.
Hey Dean. Your comment above says to not install Windows Explorer 9, but to only install "important" updates. I just showed Windows Explorer 9 as an "important" update, so I did it. Do you see a problem here? Thanks. Mark Thorson
