You should have Version 4.6 If not follow these instructions: DO NOT go to JavaCool's Website!!!!
Download it from www.filehippo.com. Look for it on the "home" page or search for it.
Only click on the Text, "Download Latest Version", NOT the Green Button!
In IE7 look for the Security Warning bar that opens then click on the Bar. You must choose Download File ... for the download to start.
Save the file to your desktop. Then double click on it after closing Internet Explorer.
Very easy install but you must choose "Manual Updating" in the Updating Options screen.
When SpywareBlaster 4.6 opens click on the link Enable All Protection.
Then update as usuall. You can delete the install file when you are finished.
Perhaps this is the update we have been waiting for and it will fix the Error message about the Hidden files!

Do not end the scan and you do not need the CD the message talks about.
If the scan does not find and delete any "files" then you are virus free.

The "Malicious Software Removal Tool" is OK! It is Microsoft's custom Virus Scan! Install it!

Microsoft/MSN must be doing something nasty on the Inbox page and AVIRA does not like it!
Right Mouse click on the AVIRA Umbrella down by the time! UNCheck the Web Protection enable menu entry in the menu that opens. Try opening your Inbox again.

First you must know your PC. What is "Normal" behavior? What is your web browser's "Home Page"? What does normal Internet traffic look/sound/feel like? How fast is the Internet? How fast do you get/send emails?
One of the first symptoms of a virus is a "change"! The Internet is "Slow". The PC is acting "funny"! There seems to be lots of activity going on over the Internet wires but "you" aren't doing anything. Your "Home Page" changes to some other web site, either porn or a site that tries to sell you something. You can no longer get or send emails. Google searches that don't show you the right "results" is a frequent complaint.
The obvious symptoms are "pop-ups". These can happen anywhere and at random times. They pop-up inside web pages, they pop-up in the system tray (down by the time/clock), they just pop-up on top of everything and they won't go away! These fraudulent pop-ups can be "official" looking warnings, or advertisements claiming that you are "infected". They FALSELY claim that they have "scanned" for viruses and found a "Trojan" or some such thing. Another type of virus pop-up claims that your hard drive and/or RAM is failing. To prove it the virus begins to erase your icons!
You have Avira AntiVir Guard. Just who is claiming to have found something? You should only respond if the warning pop-up is from Avira! (Look for the Red Umbrella and the Remove button.)
If you suspect a virus Immediately shut down the PC using the Power Button then call me immediately at 763-360-2163.

Version 2 is completely different than Version 1.6.2 the version we are using.
It wants to be a complete Security package like McAfee or Norton. It will conflict with AntiVir, ZoneAlarm and MalwareBytes!
I will be testing Version 2 as he completes his Beta testing and will let my customers know what to do when I am completely through with my own testing.

]]>Here are the promised instructions for installing the new version of Avira's free AntiVir 2012.
I used a Windows XP machine and Internet Explorer 7 to make these instructions. Things will be different if you use Vista or Windows 7. Things will be different if you use a different Browser. The idea is the same. Get the proper install file from www.filehippo.com, save it to your desktop then execute it. Remember that ZoneAlarm will pop up many times during the install and you must click the Remember this setting button and ALLOW every time.
When you are completely done you should delete the Install file you downloaded to the desktop.
